Friday Night Lights, #1.04
This is the first show in a while that, as I watch, has me curled into a ball, hand over mouth, making incoherent squeaking sounds. Hee!
Nervy boy watches through a closed door the golden girl dancing in the dance studio? Whoa. Everwood flashbacks. Matt and Julie were so Ephram/Amy this episode. Heh.
I laughed so damn hard at Kyle ("Coach Eric Taylor" ...whatever, he's Kyle Chandler) telling Matt to go out and get laid. And then there was the perfect pathos of the next scene with his grandma. Gahhh. So sad. :,( I'm fairly ambivalent to Matt, but it was really great to see his layers in this episode. That shot of him as he just kept on hitting the car = chilling.
Loved the little scene of Tyra* coming to visit Jason. Adrianne Palicki is totally my TV girlfriend. And this totally gives creedence to own personal theory that Tim, Tyra and Jason once had a drunken threesome.... WHAT?
*It would really help me out if the two main female characters didn't have really similiar names. Seriously, Tyra and Lyla? Confuses the shit out of me.
I was heartily amused by this exchange. The last line was clearly just cut for time or something:
Tim: "I've been having these feelings..."
Lyla: "Me too... for Jason."
Tim: "ME TOO! omg, I love him."
(Riggins/Street is clearly the OTP. I was rewatching the Pilot yesterday -- Tim and Jason totally eyefuck stare at each other for, like, ten minutes at the end of the "Texas forever!" scene.)
The Lyla/Tim stuff in this episode was so cliched. Haha, I don't care. I love this storyline. She's a cheerleader, he's a football player... it's the classic trope, but it's completely, completely fucked up. Awesome.
P.S. I saw "Katims" flash across the screen as I was watching, had a fleeting moment of wait what... OH. Dude. I just looked it up and Jason Katims is involved in his show. Holy shit. Michael/Liz lives on!
