Back to School!
Unbelievable!! I had put in an application online to an art school here in Phoenix. Yesterday I got a call and went in today for an interview. Guess what? I got in!
So I'm going to wind up with a degree in web design. I'm going to take classes in animation as well so I'm hedging my bets. Since I went to college before, I'm sure some classes will transfer over, although I wasn't an art major.
It's going to be interesting, that's for sure! I'm really excited. I'm looking at this as an opportunity to really make a living as an artist. It may take a while and there will be loans to pay off in the end, but I think it will be worthwhile.
The school clearly focuses on getting its graduates to work, which is really good. Since I'm crap at networking and job hunting, I think this is something I need. Not only does the school help you find work while you're a student, they help you after you've left - at any of their locations around the USA or Canada. Obviously you have to do the work, but I think the job help will be important.
So it was a huge eventful day. Now I have to get my paperwork sorted and all that. Classes start November 9th, it's a half quarter (an eighth? lol).
