Squid Party!

While I do love any sort of publicity Giant Squid can generate, this is mostly negative stuff:

CBS's story on squid congregating off the California coast

My least favorite parts:
"They are deadly, huge and fast moving. Their tentacles can suck the life out of a human being and they've arrived in Northern California." It's not like squid are snacking on humans. And the story doesn't actually mention human mortality. So, how do they know what a tentacle can do to a human. And the tentacles don't really "suck"!

"They get up to about 100 pounds, (and) eight feet long!" If they're real giant squid, they get a whole lot bigger than that. A real giant squid (Archeteuthis) has recorded lengths of up to 40+ feet.

"They are giant squid. Nobody knows why, but for three years now fishing boats out of Bodega Bay have been catching the ink spewing fish by the droves." They're NOT giant squid if they've been catching them for years. Real Giant squid are rarely caught alive or otherwise. AND... THEY'RE NOT FISH!!!. For the love of all that is holy, people, a squid is a mollusk. Like a clam! Like a snail! Like an octopus! Oh CBS, you upset me.
