Une soirée de gala en direct pour fêter avec éclat un triple anniversaire : les 100 ans du ballet de Nijinski, de la musique de Stravinsky et du Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, où Le sacre fit un scandale retentissant lors de sa création en 1913.
C’était le 29 mai 1913, sur la scène du tout nouveau Théâtre des Champs-Élysées à Paris. Les Ballets russes créent une œuvre phare du XXe siècle : Le sacre du printemps d’Igor Stravinsky, chorégraphié par Nijinski. Cette œuvre novatrice déchaîne alors la fureur des spectateurs, partagés entre les pour et les contre, ce qui est souvent bon signe pour la postérité d’une création. Le sacre du Printemps a révolutionné la musique et la danse, et constitue une référence majeure pour de nombreux chorégraphes.
ARTE célèbre le centenaire de cette création ainsi que celui du Théâtre des Champs-Élysées au cours d’une soirée de gala exceptionnelle. Au programme : le ballet original de Nijinski et Sacre, une nouvelle version de l'œuvre par la chorégraphe Sasha Waltz, tous deux interprétés par le ballet et l’orchestre du Théâtre Mariinsky de Saint-Pétersbourg, sous la direction musicale de Valery Gergiev.

Marking one century since the premiere of the ballet Le Sacre du printemps, 29 May sees the start of a tour by the Mariinsky Ballet to the Théâtre des Champs Élysées.
Sasha Waltz’ Sacre
On this stage, where the first performance of Igor Stravinsky’s ballet in 1913 caused a scandal, the Mariinsky Ballet and Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev will be performing a reconstruction ofLe Sacre du printemps with the choreography of Vaslav Nijinsky that was booed by Paris audiences one hundred years ago. The role of the Chosen One in the ballet will be performed by Daria Pavlenko (29 May, 31 May at 20:00) and Alexandra Iosifidi (30 May, 31 May at 14:00). Alongside Le Sacre of Nijinsky, an avant-garde of the 20th century, there will be a performance of the new 21st version of Sacre by Sasha Waltz recently premiered at the new stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The performances, commemorating one century of Stravinsky’s revolutionary score which had a decisive influence on world music, are to take place in Paris on 29, 30 and 31 May. On the evening of 29 May Arte TV will be broadcasting the performance from the Théâtre des Champs Élysées. Kultura TV will also be broadcasting the event live; the broadcast begins at 23:25, Moscow Time.
On 1 June the Mariinsky Opera under the baton of Valery Gergiev will present French audiences with Hector Berlioz’ rarely performed opera Benvenuto Cellini. The principal roles are to be performed by lead Mariinsky Opera soloists Sergei Semishkur (Benvenuto Cellini), Ekaterina Semenchuk (Ascanio), Anastasia Kalagina (Teresa),Yuri Vorobiev (Balducci), Mikhail Petrenko (Pope Clement VII) and Andrei Popov (Fieramosca). The opera will be performed in concert.
