I decided to make and upload one more "singing potpourri", which I hadn't made for some months, and chose the very agile and difficult (therefore thrilling - for us listeners) aria "Vien, diletto", from Elvira's Mad Scene (I Puritani). I tried to select the singers in order to demonstrate as many different voices and "approaches" to this aria as possible. So they are:
1) Leyla Gencer [1961, Teatro Colon]
2) Maria Callas [1953, studio]
3) Montserrat Caballé [1969, studio]
4) Mariella Devia [1989, Catania]
5) June Anderson [1992, Covent Garden]
6) Joan Sutherland [1976, Met]
7) Beverly Sills [1973, studio]
I hope you enjoy the selections. I know I had to let many great recordings out of the video, because of the short duration of the aria, so of course I didn't forget many other great interpretations such as Gruberova's, Moffo's, Tetrazzini's, etc. :-)

I think everyone is aware of Kabaibanska's Tosca because of the Film, the 1973 video from Tokyo and the Romo telecasr from the very early 90s. Did you know there was an ever earlier Telecast of the opera in the Nicola Benois (so reminiscent of Zefirelli) production from La Scala, also with Pavarotti? This is that forgotten telecast. Премьерная "Сомнамбула" произвела впечатление, в т.ч. и как плод деятельности нач. отдела перспективного планирования М. Фихтенгольца.
И образованный год назад худсовет оперы БТ, видимо плод того же дерева.
NB! Фихтенгольц уже должен был освоить профессию генерального директора: он способный! Пусть его назначат!
Раз уж В. В. Васильева г-н Швыдкой выгнал!
"Гендир ГАБТ Михаил Фихтенгольц" - неплохо звучит?
