K-pop 2011 ♥ mega post
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! ♥
All right, so seeing all the end-of-year awards, charts and what-not, I thought I need to make my own chart. Just to keep some kind of track of all the things and it would be nice to look back at it too :'3
It's all just my opinions, so don't bash me ~ on the other hand I'd be happy to hear your opinions!
K-pop 2011 by honeyblinger
Intro
→ written only by remembering the most memorable comebacks/debuts, so there's a lot missing ~
I'm still a newbie to k-pop and I haven't gone through the years before 2010 (during 2009 I was stuck on DBSK only and didn't follow k-pop news at all xD), so my judging is very biased, but 2011 was a good year for me. It hadn't overcome the 2010 for me, but still did a great job. In my eyes, this year was ruled by Infinite. They've been promoting literally whole year, having four main tracks and others. They worked incredibly hard and finally won their first awards too! Then it was B2ST's comeback and an epic album, new Super Junior and B1A4 debuting. Way too many bands debuted in 2011 imho. I think it's getting a bit crazy and unfair to the rookies. But there were some bands that stood out and I'm infinitely proud B1A4 are among them, since I supported them since before their debut. SHINee had their Japanese debut (just like many others) and I loved their album way more then I thought I would. Brown Eyed Girls' comeback made me realize how much I love those girls and how perfect they are. And last but not least, U-Kiss. I feel like writing a long post just about them. I've always liked them, but they've never been high in my faves. However this year they completely won over me and made me realize they are the most underrated k-pop band out there for sure.
That said, I'll make a compilations of top {10-20} for the following categories:
→ Top 15 MVs of 2011
Not judging the songs nor artists, just purely how the MVs are made. For me, it's important for the MV to either have a plot (which is becoming kinda a rarity in k-pop I think; and by plot I don't mean cheesy love story about five boys in love with one girl kay) or beautiful atmosphere, something special.

Infinite - BTD (Before the Dawn)
I like MVs with interesting plots. And I like dark, fighting MVs. This one has both, topped by Infinite's amazing dancing skills. I think that kind of explains itself :3 Actually this might be my all time favourite MV of all k-pop~! Also I absolutely love the ending, the desperate atmosphere, Woohyun crying and the choir singing *w*
2. Brown Eyed Girls - Cleansing Cream
I appreciated deep, meaningful plots. And so even though Brown Eyed Girls actually aren't in the video and the song isn't of my favourites, the story totally got me. It's so filled with emotions, unsaid feelings and just everything. I just love the depth of this.
3. LEDApple - Someone Met By Chance
→ watch the drama version of the MV
Although they are not very well known (I actually thought this is their debut, but it's actually a comeback and they debuted last year), I was happy to see a creative MV with something else then simple backgrounds with dance version-like video. And I love sci-fi, so this mini movie got me hooked up ~

→ Top 10 rookies of 2011
Although I do admit way too many bands that will be forgotten soon debuted in 2011, there were some I really liked and so I wanted to include this category as well. I wonder if any of them will be here in a few years ~

They have a special place in my heart. For some reason, I stanned them even before debut, saw the individual pics of the members being posted every day (and getting leaked earlier lol) and at that moment I thought I'll love them. I drew a pic of them even before the album came out xD And when it did, all their songs were simply amazing ~ As someone who loves k-pop for dance, I kinda miss the dancing element in this band, but the fact they are special in this and that they enjoy their performances so much makes them even more lovely. And so I'm feeling incredibly proud they ended up 1st on various rookie charts and that I picked the right band to stan in this year kk.
2. Aziatix
Although not really k-pop, they do belong in there, so ~ my classmate got me into them and I'm forever grateful to her! Their music style is amazing, their voices (especially Eddie's) and Eddie himself <3 Somehow I love the fact they are under Cube entertainment in Korea kk.
3. LEDApple
Even though they debuted in 2010, I'm still listing them because they had the greatest songs this year :3 I didn't know about them back in their debut days, they are not so popular now either. But their newest song got me hooked up on them totally. I love their style, the combination of a rock band and a little bit of dance in their performances. I hope they won't disappear, though I don't see them becoming more popular T.T

No girls because, well I hated this year's girl groups tbh. 2010's were way better :/ Also top 10 turned out to be still too much (even tho over 50 bands debuted supposedly lolol), so the last ones aren't really my faves, but at least I did download their songs, which already means something haha. AA are there solely for the purpose of Kimchi and their girlish choreography lol 8'D Kidding, I actually like their title song :3

It's hard to pick so little top songs, so let's do it just from the title songs, not all songs on the albums. Because then it would have to be like top 50 if not more x"D But I won't resist to do some top albums, so I'll mention those songs in there ~ btw. your argument is invalid, SHINee's Better is a title song. Nuff said.

Infinite - 내꺼하자 [Be Mine]
Tbh I love all Infinite's songs of this year and it's hard to choose my complete favourite. When BTD came our I thought that's it... but Be Mine slowly won over my heard with the amazing chorus and their improved voices and just everything. I remember hearing the teaser and then leaving for a vacation without net. And during that damn whole week I was hearing just that chorus part from the teaser in my head lol, catchy from the beginning xD Last year was Lucifer, this year this. Those are probably my complete favourites of whole k-pop!
2. B2ST - Fiction
Although it wasn't such a love for first listen (I actually liked Back to You and Freeze more then Fiction) but it grew on me. I still don't know if it surpassed Soom for me (cause that's for some reason my fave, idk why really) But I really love their voices in Fiction and whole album, it's such an eargasm I can't. And the lyrics are beautiful, the whole idea and concept and the emotions *le sigh* Okay, might've become my fave Beast after all.
3. U-Kiss - Neverland
Fave U-Kiss song for sure! They completely stunned me with this (and then completely killed with Tick Tack lol). I love dance songs like this, with the beat, rhytm and catchy chorus. And I loved the choreo so much too (gosh I'd actually like to do a top choreographies of 2011 too, but... even tho I entitled it mega post, that would be too much haha).

This year brought lots of great albums and singles, so I have to list them down. I think it's extremely hard to make an album where all of the songs would be just perfect. And every time such things happens it leaves me amazed and stuck on that album forever :'3 Instead of writing why I love the albums, I'll write out a song list and bold those that are my faves ~ which will most probably be majority on the albums lolol

Besides loving so many tracks on this album, I love the way it's ordered too. Tbh I don't usually notice such things and I listen on random mode more often too, but with this album... it just all fits together perfectly. Even now when hearing You, I know Freeze should follow x"D

I shall never stop being amazed by Infinite's ability to have whatever song/album/single they come up totally amazing. I don't get and I never will. I'll just always love them <3

They had an extremely good debut single, and I loved all of the songs here except for one, which I didn't mind in the end ~ and lemme say it here, I don't understand the instrumental versions in albums. Like at all. It's just to fill space meh

They would be higher if there weren't that many remakes tbh :/ Otherwise all the original ones are flawless!
