Random things about Inbox Zero (in progress)

Today, I decided to start on my goal of Inbox Zero in a spur of the moment fashion. Maybe I'm just really skilled at procrastinating, because I started doing it while in the middle of writing an article. Whatever. The goal is Inbox Zero, and here are some random realizations/discoveries/reminiscences while getting rid of my Gmail clutter:

1. My first oDesk assignment was last July 16, 2008.

2. My first hourly rate was $15. I thought I started at $5. Just two years ago I was at $8. Then I changed it last year to $10. And now I'm at $20. All along I thought I was progressing.

3. One of the first academic essays I wrote for this essay ordering site was about Don DeLillo's White Noise. Yet I just bought the book a couple of years ago and haven't gotten around to reading it.

4. I had a correspondence with some literary critic about postmodernism in Updike and DeLillo's novels. I don't know how I got his email address, and I certainly do not know how I could talk about postmodernism in 2008. I've only just understood the concept last year after my Literary Criticism class. Nevertheless, that email would certainly be for keeps.

By the way, I have over 5000 emails. I've finished with screening 50 emails already. I'll continue this tomorrow.

5. My first writing payslip (excluding the ones I got from The Varsitarian) was PhP270.

6. When I look at my conversations with my previous employers, I was so apologetic back then, like I would always say sorry for things that were out of my hands. I'm more confident now, thanks to my experience. I dictate the terms now, bwahahahaha!
