Three things are certain:
Death, taxes and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.
My Mac's hard drive died last night. I had known it was coming, but that did not make it any better. I had the means to backup the data, but I did not have disk space to backup the programs. So in the end it is a net loss. I had a 5 Gig HD laying around for I formatted that and installed an OS. I actually did purchase Microsoft Office for the Mac 2001 so reloaded that and was able to access my email archive that goes back to 1995 so that was good. I can also open up my word and excel files. However, Quark, illustrator, etc. All gone. I will have to make "arrangements" over the next week or so to "recover" those programs. It is all quite a bummer.
Your file was so big.
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.
