You could be creating a hard shell of protection on the physical plane to "protect" the softness (and perhaps a perceived vulnerability) you've been allowing on the inside. Maybe it's a balancing act, the hardness being displaced from inside forms on the out.
In any case, I've also seen the softening and applaud your efforts. I think Ingrid was justified in her concerns based on the facts as she knows them - but I believe you're on a good path and hope you continue your work.
I've learned that half the battle with compassion is being a bit judicious on the "who" part, at least where the "action" piece comes into play. You can feel compassionate for someone else's misfortune, but the desire to help alleviate someone else's pain...?
Some folks are broken to the point that they use/abuse those who are being kind, loving, and giving - it's seen as a weakness to be exploited.
Whereas, other folks embrace those gifts and return compassion - bringing relationships into a rewarding, deepened experience.
