Happy Birthday

odilla !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My campaign to be Nerdiest Of Them All continues in my Supervisory Management class. I got another perfect score on last week's paper and a higher-than-perfect on the test due to the complexity of my answers on the essay portion :D

In scary news, my Mom's husband, Jerry, rolled their van (!!) on Friday night. He's fine, thank the Powers. There was a slick spot on an off-ramp of the beltway. Four cars hit it and skidded out, but the higher center of gravity on the van meant a different fate. Fortunately there was a burm where Jerry hit, so the van rolled over once and landed right-side-up. Very frightening, though. I am deeply grateful that Jerry's okay. For those of you who don't know, Jerry is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people you will ever meet. If I mention an interest, even in passing, he remembers it and eventually I find an article or book on the subject waiting for me when revelrain and I come to visit. I think he knows more about my reading interests than almost anyone else simply from that habit. He also loaned us the money to get out of debt and is letting us pay it off monthly. I cannot say enough about that kindness--having a good credit score after so many years is a wonderful thing. It's why were were able to get a good interest rate on the new Element, why I have an Amex card that gives me cash back on grocery purchases. He drastically improved our quality of life. I'm well past the age where Jerry would need to buy my affection in terms of being a step-parent--he didn't meet me till after Jay and I were married. His kindness to me comes from his inherent altruism, a wonderful trait that is in desperately short supply these days. So I am deeply grateful that he's okay. I would like to request that the Universe stop it with the near-death experiences for people I love--this year has been unusually scary in that respect and I'd like to call a cease-fire.
