After a grueling (ha!) 2 weeks of job interviews, aptitude tests and other "exciting" adventures, I am proud to announce that my job hunt has come to a close. It was rather difficult to make a decision because I got offers from the top two companies I liked best: Tetra Pak Philippines and John Robert Powers. Tetra Pak invited me to join them as Environment and Communications Coordinator, which basically would have entailed me going around schools promoting their Care and Share recycling program. JRP on the other hand, was recruiting people to join the team to build their newest brand: New Horizons. The post will make the most of my communications background, and is also related to teaching ESL.
It was really tough to turn Tetra Pak down, but then... it was a contractual position, and didn't seem to offer as many benefits as working for JRP. And I suppose, deep down inside... I'm still trying to avoid going full-on corporate. As ditzy as it sounds, I'm kinda glad that I have an excuse to dress glam for work. :p Teehee! Anyways, my JRP training begins on October 5, so I have about a week of downtime left. I'm spending most of it puffer fish-faced however, as I chose to get my OTHER wisdom tooth out yesterday. I figured I might as well get it over with now that I still have the free time.
So what else has been keeping me busy? For one, I've been frantically rearranging my closet and planning out work outfits. I've also had to rearrange my schedule and let go of some of my English tutorial students. It's a bit sad to let some of them go, but I will still be able to accomodate a few of them in the evenings and on the weekends. Anyways, here's a pic of one of my students, an energetic five year old who is obsessed with shells. Good thing I can show off stuff from my Dad's extensive shell collection to give him incentive to do his worksheets! Hehe. Isn't he cute?
