Premiere Week Parte the Second

I probably should've watched The War. But I wanted silly, telenovela-inspired soap opera instead. I'm shallow like that.

- If someone had told me at the beginning of the year, I'd be sniffling over Santos biting it, I'd have laughed and laughed. But, oh man, Hilda broke my heart. Really nicely done.

- Judith Light continues to kick ass as Claire. It's always awesome to see older actresses get second winds and she's been a blast throughout the show. Plus, Yoga cracks me up. I'd totally watch a show about the two of them dodging the law and attending clambakes.

- Oh, Daniel. I've always had a soft spot for the little screw-up, but he's so broken. I think a bit of role reversal between him and Alexis will actually be good for him. He's always been sensitive to other people's perceptions of him; when he got a reputation as the family screw-up he lived down to it, but when forced to step up to the plate, he pulls himself together fairly well. Taking care of Alexis may help, more than hinder.

- Speaking of Alexis, snerk. Oh, improbable soap operatic plot twists, how I've missed you.

- Betty. Like I needed any other reason to love her. And can we just assume that she and Daniel are BFF now? Because they are so wonderful together. It's true that Daniel needs her a lot more than she needs him, but it's also true he's grown into someone she can depend on as well. Huzzah for platonic love!

Okay, so I didn't actually mean to watch Reaper. It just kind of happened. Thoughts:

- I knew I recognized Fazekas' and Butters' names from *somewhere.* Turns out they've been story editors on L&O:SVU for yonks. And Fazekas crewed on the X-Files before then. So, groovy. Even groovier: two female execs on a genre show. When was the last time *that* happened?

- Overall, the show kind of plays out like Brimstone. If Brimstone were funny and it's lead was a gigantic dork.

- Speaking of, Leland Palmer! I don't know yet if this is going to replace John Glover as the Devil in my heart, but it's pretty damn close.

- I liked it, for the most part. It's funny and light and the leads are all adorably dorky. I don't know if this is going to become must-watch TV, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

Supernatural is back next week, so one more Parte to go!
