After my study-abroad in Ireland, my friend and I intend to WWOOF (world-wide opportunities on Organic Farms), which entails contacting a host farm, arranging a range of dates to work on their farm/at their property, and you typically get to be housed with them, and they provide food, and in return you provide labor for whatever jobs are available.
This is all well and good until it comes time to send the emails. My friend and I do not identify in a traditionally gendered way. We both identify as gender-queer/ on the transgender spectrum. I'm not sure how to convey this in an email. How is the word "queer" taken over in Ireland? What connotations does it carry?
Has anyone any knowledge about what these words mean to people overseas?
Thanks.
Connor
