my repetitive life

I got called in to work on Monday, and then someone asked me to pick up their Friday shift. So bye-bye to any days off this week, but hello to fat paycheck with ten hours of overtime :).

I've been sleeping on the couch in the living room because of the super-creepy dream I had the other night. I'm afraid of my bedroom now and can't sleep in there. So I'm glad I have the SARS couch to rely on in my time of need.

My stupid alarm clock didn't go off this morning and I missed my forensics class. Boo. I like that one. Luckily, she doesn't take attendance, and I made it to campus in time for my one class that does have an attendance policy.

And, you know, I really thought that by transferring to UF I left all the stupid people behind. I was proved wrong yesterday in my general anthropology class (which I'm still bitter about being forced to take...).

Teacher: (based on 30 minutes of lecture beforehand about how language is considered symbolic...) "Therefore, for our purposes in this class, we will define culture as 'symbol-based learned behavior'."

Stupid girl: "But, isn't culture also what you've been taught, like things your parents told you?"

Most of class: *muffled laughter*

Teacher: "...'Things you've been taught from what your parents told you'... in other words, symbol-based learned behavior...?"

Stupid girl: "Yeah, that's what I mean."

Teacher: "Okay. Let's move on."

I swear, some people just shouldn't be allowed to talk. There should be a test you have to pass in order to get a license to ask questions in class. As my dad said yesterday (talking about two girls who visited and gave me a headache in less than 15 minutes), "Some people are wastes of skin."
