Here's an AP article I found on NPRs web site regarding the execution video of Saddam Hussein from a cell phone. If you haven't seen it in full think before you watch. It is the actual death of Saddam. As terrible as he was seeing the death is a solemn moment. Humanity is fragile, even when that human was a terror, murderer, and tyrant. It's a ( Read more... )

It wasn't supposed to be leaked. The video shows the audience taunting Hussien before he plummets to his death. That's something that officials would want to keep under wraps. Since it wasn't "supposed" to be leaked the official was arrested for doing so.

Personally I think it was leaked purposely and then when there was a backlash the government could say. "Hey look what we're doing to the scapegoat".

I suppose--but I thought there had been other international cameras there. I remember watching Anderson Cooper the day of the execution, debating whether or not the footage would be shown on his show, or in America at all. Any camera shots, then, would feature their get-thee-to-hella chanting.

Oh, by the way. Do you secretly also live here in Nebraska and work at the Twin Creek Blimpie? Cause an employee there looks exactly like you. She was even blonde before dying her hair dark.

Suiting that she works at the TWIN Creek Blimpie doesn't it. No, I don't secretly work or live in the vacinity. If I did you'd know because my postings would comprise of:

"Brr...."
"so cold"
"why the hell do I live here?"
"t-t-t-oo...c-c-c-cold...to...t-t-t-type...
fffffingers...fffffrrozen"

As for the other cameras, the ones allowed inside during the hanging were cut after the noose was put around his neck and tightened. I don't believe any professional cameras captured the moment, at least not video cameras.

There was debate about whether or not to show it on US television, but that was a stunt to keep people watching. OF COURSE they were going to show it! They showed it hours after it happened. I first saw it on the 5am news the morning after it occured. They didn't wait too long to get the footage up and running, all day long.

We'll see what happenes. They arrested one and have two others in custody, as of yesterday's NPR news.
