My laptop finally died. Take a tip from me, when your dc connection starts arcing, get it fixed right away. Don't wait till sparks turn to smoke. Still thinking of attempting some sort of Frankensteinish repair, but bought a new machine anyway.
Going back to a desktop. Remembering that newegg.com rocks.
Was going to buy the monitor on buy.com because they advertise free shipping, but then they tried to charge me $16 for "Shipping and Handling." Screw that, stick with newegg.
Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4 GHz stock)
MSI P6N SLI-FI Mobo (cheap NForce 680i)
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB, factory overclocked
Corsair 1GB PC6400 RAM (I'll add more later)
2 SATA 160GB Hard Drives (going to RAID)
Samsung 20" LCD Monitor, 2ms response, widescreen
Also bought a gigantic cpu cooler to try my hand at overclocking. I've read some crazy numbers on these processors.
