I got a job with Marin Theatre Company, working on the last 3 shows of their season, but it doesn't start until December. I will be PA/ASMing Sunlight, Equivocation, and Woody Guthrie's American Song. I haven't heard of any of these but they sound interesting. It's a real job too, so that's exciting and a relief. I just have to find something to do for the next four months that I won't feel bad quitting. I have a possibility, an interview on Wednesday that could turn out to be a filler job.
I also emailed this friend of my dad's who works at the SF Opera, just to give him my resumes and let him know I'm interested if anything opens up, either administratively or backstage. He wrote back like immediately and said that he'll pass it along and that's great, and that I should come see a show and get a tour and meet some people. I was like, Heck yes I will come to the opera. So I'm excited about that too.
Today I took Liz shopping and we bought her bridesmaid dress, that's a load off. And I will hopefully get Erin's and Laurie's bought on Wednesday. (Molly is a good bridesmaid and bought hers two weeks ago in Reno.) Now things are starting to happen and it's getting a little stressful - shower stuff and rehearsal dinner stuff and people keep asking me what kind of shoes they're supposed to wear and I'm like, I don't know even know what shoes I'm wearing. WTVR. Also, I'm making an artichoke and it's rattling the lid severely and I think that's stressing me out. :)
In the last three weeks, we've seen Funny People, Harry Potter 6, and Julie & Julia. I would rate them 2, 3, 1 in that order. Funny People was disappointing but HP6 is ALWAYS disappointing and yet I keep going. So I have to give it less points for continuously getting my hopes up and then smashing them.
On Saturday I went to my first baseball game (Giants vs. Reds) and it was super fun. One of my arms is now darker than the other, although I think it's less noticeable now that the burn has faded. Tomorrow Drew and I are taking both sets of parents to the Brazilian Room to show them around, and to meet our caterer and go over some questions with her. Friday is Lysandra's rehearsal dinner and Saturday is her wedding! Exciting. Then Sunday I get into Lysandra's luggage to stow away to New Zealand with her and Joe. I wish.
I'm not cut out for constantly staying up way past midnight. I like to sleep in but it just feels wrong to me to be up until 2 or 3 in the morning. I think I would be happiest on a school schedule - work from 8-3, go to sleep around 11. One day maybe.
CBEST was easy. Just need to get started on the next steps - I don't get my scores back until the 24th anyway. i was at Liz's high school today and it made me want to go back there. It was just so magical - Franklin High in Stockton, CA. Maybe I am cut out to be a teacher.
