As for the Unseen Follower trick, he manages to keep it from bothering him, if only for a rather brief period of time. And then he'll be moving closer to the light of the streetlights, looking back over his shoulder periodically as if he's looking for a shadow, or anything else to tell him there's a perfectly logical reason to this phenomenon.

As for comparing him to Sephiroth? There's little to nothing to indicate that Hojo might be his father, if one didn't already know. Of course, this might well be for the better, all things considered - at least as far as ShinRa was concerned.
