Mad Men finale
it was all gloom and doom for Don Draper in my mind prior to the last night's season finale...i could see him falling ... like the opening sequence... falling down past the highlights - perfect and colorful print ads - of his life which were never real as Don Draper himself was never real...
...and how glad am i that it was not the case?! it has nothing to do with happy endings. i do not think that the ending is resoundingly happy rather it is fitting... Don Draper's emotional breakthrough can only result in one thing and one thing only an iconic ad...nothing else would fit...
sometime ago, Mad Men creator Matt Weiner said that he had the final scene of the show in mind from the very beginning...he knew the fate of Don Draper and was leading us to it like a good novelist.
