I wrote this a little bit ago: "She grew up variously across the earth- Singapore and Sydney, I know for sure, and France, where else? So she speaks at least Tamil and French, one of those stateless polyglots who will one day run everything, if they don't already. She didn't have the halting, uneven experience of a military brat- her father is an academic, she seems evenly exposed to the useful corridors of the world.
She is beautiful, of course, with large doe eyes, soft features, and her hair kept cropped for as long as I've known her.
She has a boyfriend. He is a terrific guy, I could fawn over him at length, too- right now, though, I am just glad she's happy with him. Anyone less and I would have made a mess of things by now."
So there's that.
Today I am sick. I want to write this down so I appreciate feeling well, if and when I do. No looking at my throat in mirrors or unfamiliar prescriptions. I spent the morning at First Med trying to diagnose the full waiting room. When my name was called, I found I had dozed off with the sun on my face.
