Obama took South Carolina. I'm so, so pleased. This means a number of things, which I'll put behind an LJ-cut because I'm rather ill-informed and this is all speculation.

First off, this means a brief pause of all the tinfoil-helmet voting fraud rumors that have been so widely circulated since New Hampshire's votes came in. While I think enough reputable sources have reported these discrepancies to make them a real issue, I don't want them to be addressed at the cost of Sen. Obama's presidential bid.

Secondly, this will maybe shut up the bloated white windbags who have been knocking around whether Obama is "black enough" since he announced his campaign. AP: "Obama won 78 percent of [black voters'] votes, with black men and women supporting the Illinois senator by about that same margin."

Politico's Helena Andrews reports on the black community's worries over whether Obama would be supported by his administration, but the article is pre-SC and I'm glad to see these fears-- while not completely unfounded-- aren't turning away too many voters. I am, however, terribly anxious to see how things play out in the deep South. An Edwards win, for once?

[one day later]

I feel like I am under an enormous pressure. I suppose I have failed my sexual politics class, unless I write two papers tonight. I am considering withdrawing from all my classes, but if I did, I would almost certainly kill myself. I ought to write something real, as the amount of effort I expend here was brought to my attention.
