I was super excited when
kalliel told me that Evanescence was recording a new album. I absolutely loved this band when I first heard them, and I'm not ashamed to admit I still do! I'm (mostly) over those moody pre-teen days, but I still think Amy Lee's voice is hauntingly beautiful.
But then, I saw
this article. I realize that Evanescence has been heading a new direction ever since the original members (namely, Ben Moody) left. The Open Door was drastically different than Fallen, but still good. And, it still sounded like Evanescence.I attributed it to them growing as a band. This new album they're working on seems like a drastic change though. Completely different than anything else before! I congratulate Amy Lee for moving on, but I also almost feel as if it's too much change. What made Evanescence "work" was that organic element, the one she talks about discarding. I'm afraid I have mixed reactions towards the new album now. Don't get me wrong, I still can't wait for it to come out, but at the same time, I'm afraid it'll be too different, and I won't like it anymore. (Remember Panic at Disco, anyone?)
Would I be considered an unfaithful fan if I had an urge to check out We Are the Fallen?
