Nottingham is the real home of Batman...

No really, apparently this fantastic piece of Elizabethan architecture http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1037 is going to pose as the outside of Bruce Wayne's home. It was built in the usual fashion, to impress Elizabeth I in the hope she might come for a visit and thereby ruin the family finances. She didn't come, but the house ruined the family finances anyway, which is not too surprising considering it comes with its very own cave (with bathing facilities) and a very pretty, but entirely devoid of function prospect room which nearly led to the roof collapsing...
Downside is that I now will have to sit through the gurnings of Christian Bale in order to see Wollaton Hall on the big screen. On the upside, this may alert certain film makers involved in turning the Temeraire books into movies that the actual location of Will Laurence's visit to his parents place is very pretty indeed and  needn't be replaced by random movie location XYZ. Now, to see that I would be very willingly prepared to part with cash.
