I passed my 60 wpm test today with a 100% transcription grade. Nearly 4 weeks into the semester and we're about to start testing at the passing speed already: 80wpm. We're going to be at next semester's passing speed before this semester even ends! This means I could graduate much quicker because I can test out of any class as long as I've got the ( Read more... )

that's so cool. how on earth did you decide you wanted to be a stenographer?

I took a typing test the other day, I can type 80wpm, but that's on a normal keyboard and not a funky steno keyboard or whatever you call it. I'm intrigued to know how you write words...

We write the word in a stroke, like a keyboard but several letters at a time. But the time it takes you to type delicious I can write it on one stroke and move on to the next word spoken. That's the only way I know how to describe it. A lot of words are slurred because the goal is to make the word into as few strokes as possibly. And there are briefs made up to make words shorter. Does that make sense? lol It's s so hard to explain.

Oh and I've always loved computers and been a good typer, plus I love law so there ya go. There was an article in our paper about a high demand for these types of jobs and two and two clicked.
