I went to Virginia towards the end of April.. visited University of Virginia. Actually, the whole trip that weekend was for a competition taking place in DC, we arrived at the Baltimore airport though. The last day there, we drove to virginia, and the university seemed pretty awesome. I didn't like the university colors though, ha. :)
Yeah, UVA is pretty cool. The do have the ugliest colors though!
Ahahhaha yes 8 generations is a lot. In defense, my mom's hobby for the past ten years has been genealogy so she has had plenty of time to compile relatives.
The farthest she could track was on my father's side (though not technically in Virginia (:) was a guy named John Goodman, who came over on the Mayflower in 1620.
That's pretty impressive to track that far. You guys could probably even go back farther, if you maybe look around European records. ~
The farthest we can track back on my father's side is somewhere in the 1800's. The person worked on the man made Suez Canal in Egypt. The last few generations have been Palestinian though, but if you go back that far, there's Egyptian ancestry.
Mmmmm European records. That would be interesting, yes. I think we're just some German/Scottish/English. Boring old Anglo-Saxan, nothing too interesting.
Unlike yours, wow! That's really cool to know. It must have taken some records to trace all the way back to Egypt.
But what would be interesting is finding out what type of ancestors we had, like they might have been rather interesting. Who knows, they might have been really important people too.
Yeah. It's mostly word of mouth though, and generations keeping track of who's son of who. I think culturally, it's considered important, that's why.
and 8 generations? wow, that's a lot.
