This Christmas was perfectly lovely (although, admittedly, pretty much anything would have been an improvement over last year's hell-iday). My brother Jon and D's mom are both currently living with us. The four of us had a nice dinner together on Christmas Eve, after driving around looking at neighborhood Christmas lights. Christmas morning, we made a yummy brunch and opened presents. Everyone seemed genuinely happy with their gifts, which was a relief as, personally, I get a much bigger kick out of the reactions to the gifts I gave than over anything I receive myself. Of course, that's not to say I didn't appreciate my own haul:
new skates, with pink wheels
an awesome watch (Andy Warhol Swish #ANDY093, for those who like more info on these sorts of things)
The Wizard of Oz graphic novel from Marvel comics, which is seriously gorgeous and I'm very excited about it
a stocking full of nice office supplies and treats
And from my brother, a freaking adorable oversized mug with a blue gingham print that came with a cute little Toto-shaped spoonrest/teabag holder. Can you tell I'm known as the Oz freak? ;)
I'm also pretty pleased with the gifts I picked out for others, and the ones I managed to knit. Mind you, my knitting is by no means expert, but I try my damndest and am usually happy with the results. And at least no one makes faces about their handmade presents, even if sub-par.
I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday, whatever you celebrate. XO
