Polanski

I tend to keep my head out of the news for reasons just like this one. It's infuriating and frustrating and completely unfathomable.

Roman Polanski is an awful human being. The end. Just because you make amazing films (or so says the majority opinion), it does not --in any way, shape, or form-- give you the right to sedate and sodomize a child.

No, it's not complicated.

No, it doesn't matter "who" he is.

No, it doesn't matter where he was arrested.

No, it doesn't matter how long ago it happened. There is no statute of limitations on being a complete bastard.

No, it doesn't matter that she was underage. I mean, yes, it does, but what he did would have been wrong regardless of her age.

No, it doesn't matter that the victim has "moved on".

No, it doesn't matter that his "freedom" is at stake. You do something that awful, and retraction of your freedom is pretty much a given.

No, it will not cause France and America to suddenly hate one another. We don't need a jackass film maker fucking up to incite elitist patriotism.

What matters is that he did something so incredibly fucked up and wrong on so many levels, and that he should have to take responsibility for his actions. Supporting someone who ran off to France to avoid getting in trouble for, again, sedating and raping a child is ludicrous and you might as well just tell everyone you support rape.

And to the idiot who posted that Polanski was "entitled to some underage trim" because his wife was murdered by the Manson family: I hope they lock you up with him.
