(no subject)
Last night, I played 12 games. I came in 4th in 7 of them... 7! got a second place and two third places. needless to say, not a good night.
I went to sleep last night a very unhappy person. I was down to 140 something.
This afternoon, I played in 8, got 2 first places, and nothing else. up $1. I decided to talk to my brother. For those of you who dont know, He's much better than me at poker. He said it sounds like I'm just playing to cash, and not playing to win. I played my next 4 tournaments ok... when I got down to 4 people in two of them, I played to win it. I didnt care who bet at me, I acted the same against a big stack as I would against a short stack, and it worked out great. I won one of them and placed 3rd in another.

I decided to take matt's advice, and go to a party I heard about over in riverknoll(apartments). A couple of guys and myself headed over there around 10:00. we get there, write our names down for beer pong, and I grab a couple beers. I have winners in pong when who shows up? Campus fucking safety. Bye Bye party. around 11:40, I'm back in the dorm. shitty night so far, so I decided to play poker.
So I get back here and join 4 tournaments. I get 88 early on in one. flop came 8AK. a guy went all in, I called and he had AK, I won when the rest of the cards were rags. in another tournament, I got KK on the first hand. A guy raised to 120, I reraised to 420, another guy called, and the initial raiser called, flop came perfectly, AKx, I bet 260, guy to my right calls, initial raiser moves all in, I call other guy calls. I'm up against AQ and AK and win the hand. I was down to the final 4 in all of my tournaments, I didnt want another disaster to happen like it did last night, I needed to win these. one tournament went by real fast, and I won it. at that point, I was down to the final 3 in two others, meaning I'm already making a profit. I get a second place when a guy catches a runner flush draw to knock me out. and the others, I got two third places.
I am back up to $179, and am very relieved that my string of bad luck and bad play is over.
