So, the front door has been harder and harder to close, lately. At first, it was just a matter of giving it a good hard jerk after pulling it closed. Then it was sort of a slam and a jerk. And then it would often take several tries.
It started being difficult near the beginning of the wet(ish) season; so, I assumed it was the door swelling or something like that. So, the other day, as we're leaving the house, I asked the SubG if we could get a plane or something and shave off some of the swolen bit so it would not be so hard to close. "Assuming that's the problem," sez he.
We go to lunch. After lunch, I ask if there's anywhere he wants to go whilst we're out. He suggests we go to Sears to buy a plane. Ok. So, we do. And then we head home.
I sit at my computer to check a couple of things and he bangs the door shut a few times. Then he goes in the garage after something, bangs the door again, and then heads into the computer room to sit at his desk and start typing.
"So, did you fix the door?" Oh, yeah. He gets up and I get up and we go to the door and he opens it and he points to the little metal plate around where the latch goes into the door jam and says, "those two screws were loose and so were sticking out." I laughed. A lot.
