Hey, I don't have OCD! That's an unfair characterization!
I, too, have heard all the stories about the false positives, kids getting drugged up and so forth. The problem is that I know an awful lot of people who were false negatives - who definitely had some sort of problem, and couldn't get proper treatment for the life of them. I count myself among those; I'd tried for ten years or so to get treatment for ADD and wasn't successful. From the (admittedly anecdotal) evidence I've heard, I ain't atypical in that respect.
On the other hand, the false positives do seem to get drugged up quickly and easily; that is kinda worrisome. The overall problem seems to be "it's too easy to get shitty treatment, and too difficult to get good treatment".
My personal experience has been that I've had far more immediate and permanent effects from the 'traditional' psychoactives ( ... )
