So, I was thinking...
... three different people in the last day or so have told me about the Prozac being found in British drinking water and not one of them has sent me a link to a story.
... all of them say it's a result of so many people in Britain taking it, that it is getting into the drinking water through sewage.
... how the hell would that be happening unless the doses are so high the body is not processing all of it and somehow regular sewage treatment is not removing it?
... this is mighty similar to the story a couple of years ago, which was also Britain, regarding hormones in the drinking water.
So, the web is my friend. Sure enough, on the fourth page of links on a
YahoO! search, I found a link to the web page for the UK Drinking Water Inspectorate -- an organization which is (apparently poorly) quoted in the
The Observer article. (It's worth noting that every single other article about this I found on the first three pages appeared to be reporting on the
article in The Observer including the quotes about being 'watered down' and so on.)
It turns out:
Observer claim that there are traces of Prozac in drinking water is incorrect.
Surprise.
