1. I have started to read Proust's Remembrance of Things Past, or Lost Time, or Whatever, again. Which is not to say that I've read it before- I've only started it before. It seems like it might be good for me. You have to pay attention, and if you space out you find yourself so completely lost that you have to backtrack to the beginning of the sentence you spaced out on, and that sentence starts a page ago. Last time I only made it about ten pages in, but it was an old translation in a mass market paperback; two strikes at the outside. I might keep you posted! I might not.
2. Listening to a recording of an Angela Chase show from a month ago (that
rememberinmagic recorded for us) made me realize that the way I've been singing in this band for the last three years is horrible. I just kept wincing until the last song or two in the set, by which point my voice was warmed up and we were playing songs we wrote later on, after I'd stopped writing songs where I shriek like the guy from Die! Die! Die!- or, fail trying to. Good to know! (This is not me asking for reassurance, if you've ever seen my band, by the way. I think it's half embarrassing and half funny.) Now I can move on to the next phase of becoming a totally awesome rock star, in which I become a not-embarrassing singer.
3. The coffee's really good this morning.
4. I am actually supposed to go record vocals at Paul's tonight so that we can have a record. We'll see how that goes. Haha. Um.
5. La Mission was a pretty amazing movie. I mean, I didn't grow up Latin@ in the Mission, so it's not really my place to be like "what a realistic depiction" or anything, but the filmmakers made some pretty badass decisions (there are almost no white people; there's I think one character who isn't sympathetic, and he is borderline sympathetic; it is about men's feelings; that kinda stuff) to show a story that seems like it might be pretty hard to show. I am recommending it to you.
