On behalf of a friend - linking to a public apology
icarusancalion has been part of my flist for a while. As with most people on my flist I don't often reply to her posts or even let her know that I am reading them. I friended her mostly for the fic, but stayed because she often made interesting RL posts and seemed like a genuinely interesting person.
This morning she posted a public recantation of her position on one of her Buddhist teachers - Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo, and temple she used to attend, Kunzang Palyul Choling.
It is here: http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/894371.html And it does not make very nice reading. Icarus purposely mislead people, outright lied about KPC and Jetsuma, and manipulated their internet profiles to deingrate and vilify them.
As part of coming to terms with what she's done, besides the public announcement, icarusancalion has asked her flist to pass this on. In spreading this link (and feel free to do so yourselves, please), we are helping to counteract the disinformation that icarusancalion spread about a female Lama and the Buddhist temple.
Although I do not know this Buddhist temple or any of the people involved and I do not condone what icarusancalion did, I am proud of her for having the courage to apologise publically. I hope that this is the first step in mitigating the pain she caused, and that she can find solace and peace in time.
