Too Fast...Tour review

May 08, 2010 09:54

So, last night, May 7, 2010, I went to R.I.T [traveled 2.5 hrs…] to see the Too Fast For Love Tour. And holy shit, I wish it never ended.

First, I got to do a meet + greet with Cobra. That was fun. They’re so incredibly skinny in person! But they’re all so nice. I was so nervous my hand was shaking xP I was trying not to be nervous but… I got my Hot Mess cd booklet signed-getting thanked for buying the deluxe edition. Gabe signed the page where it’s just him, Tabitha-isn’t that you? <3 Gabe. Probably because there was a girl ahead of me with the same name and I was like “yay! Someone has the same name as me!” And I commend him for spelling it right too. Everyone else signed the cover. The only one I can read is Vicky’s xP Alex/Nate/Ryland and I had a mini conversation about Florida ‘cause I told ‘em I hated NY and that’s where I wanted to be again. Ryland smelled my friend’s hair and told her what shampoo she used then we got our picture with them before Zack escorted us away. I like Zack. He’s a cool dude. Told him I wanted his job and he was just like “you don’t even know what I do”.

We ended up 2nd row of people back from the stage. And let me tell you-that’s crazy shit up there. It started out fine, everyone tightly packed together. But by the end of the night, there were shoes everywhere, I lost my hoodie (found it again later), and I felt ready to pass out from heat exhaustion. I was elbowed, shoved, grinded on, sweated on….I’d do it all again though :)

Anyway, first up for the night was I Fight Dragons. They were really good. A lot of energy, catchy songs, and fun performance. They’re like a retro nintendo band of sorts-techno-y with old school nintendo sounds. For not knowing who they were/their songs, I think the crowd was awesome in supporting them ‘cause we were all yelling, dancing, and overall just having fun [duh! it’s a concert!]. After the show, I got their cd [Cool is Just a Number] and a poster that they all signed for me [it’s a cool 3-d poster]. They were all incredibly nice too-including their merch guy [his voice kept getting all high pitched as he yelled ‘CD! $5!’ and it was funny]. I got my picture with the singer, Brian, and the [hot] drummer, Chad - again, uber nice people.

After IFD was Travie and holy fuck did the place blow up. It was awesome being like 30min from where he was born and raised too. Travie came on in a suit and with some white balloons that eventually he let go-I wonder when they’re coming down…You know, it’s really weird hearing someone on a cd/dvd then in person ‘cause they sound so much different. Travie had a bit of a lil wayne voice going - like, high pitched sorta. But it was awesome becuase Travie’s an awesome person. I’m super excited for his cd this June because from what I heard [through the screaming and the ringing in my ears], it’s going to be a pretty epic cd. Of course, when he got to Billionaire everyone started singing along and it’s always fun hearing the entire giant crowd singing together ‘cause it makes it even better. Travie is so cute too - all the strange faces he makes xP Travie came down and sang right in front of where I was too which was amazing. The crowd really got crazy then with the shoving…

3rd came one of the two headliners, 3OH!3. Now, I’m not a big 3OH!3 fan. I’m still not. I personally don’t really care for their songs [I like a few…] because to me, it’s all crude and perverted. But I will say, they are amazing concert performers. The whole place blew up the second they came out- singing, dancing, screaming…the lights were flashing all sorts of colors [kinda thought I was gonna have a seizure…] and it was nothing short of a party. Then they had these wolves that moved and shot green lasers from their eyes. That was special xP

Lastly, the biggest reason I wanted to go, was Cobra. They are true performers/party-ers too. First off, Gabe had a golden microphone, which is awesome. Second, their backdrop was all these lights that were every color flashing constantly; sometimes with pictures, sometimes with words. The crowd definitely anticipated them because I think we all went hoarse/deaf by the end of their set. It started with City is at War and ended with the ‘ONE MORE SONG’ [we were chanting it…Gabe was all like [before they came back for GGGB] “This is our last song *wink wink wink wink wink*” with tons in between. I was uber happy when they played Guilty Pleasure, totally doing the dance in my squished little space. A lot of what they played was from iViva which was great because that’s my favorite of theirs. During Snakes on a Plane, Travie was busy with family, so Gabe grabbed some girl from the audience to sing his part which was really cool because who wouldn’t love to do that? At one point, balloons were all over the place, and we were popping them. Someone threw a hat up on the stage and Gabe put it on for a minute. In the end, Gabe ended up in front of the crowd, holding hands, singing, and it was kinda really epic; a shit ton of confetti falling all over the place.

I love all of Cobra, I can’t really put them in an order, but Nate/Alex/Ryland will always be my favorites :) [Gabe’s got enough love….Vicky’s really awesome too, though]

Hardly any of my photos came out, but I did get a really cute one of Gabe, and then one of Gabe laying his head on Ryland that’s pretty clear :] I’ll post them asap!

I want to live last night forever…. T^T
