For the first time in U.S. history, both houses of a state legislature passed a bill allowing civil marriage for same sex couples. Now California could set the standard in the battle for equal rights for all Americans. But Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is planning to single-handedly halt the expansion of basic civil rights to everyone in California.
Signing the Civil Marriage and Religious Freedom Protection Act into law would move California forward on the right side of history by affording the same rights to all Californians, regardless of sexual orientation. And it would set an example for the entire nation! But Governor Schwarzenegger has said that he will veto the Civil Marriage and Religious Freedom Protection Act passed by both houses of the California State Legislature.
Don't let Schwarzenegger veto the bill! Click the link below to tell Schwarzenegger to sign the Civil Marriage and Religious Freedom Protection Act.

I am a 16 year old student in Baton Rouge, Louisana- a state that is still highly prejudiced towards gays and lesbians. By not pasing bill A.B. 849, the Civil Marriage and Religious Freedom Act, Governor Schwarzenegger, you are telling me and my fellow youth that it is right to descriminate towards others just due to their sexual orientation and different beliefs. Please be a stepping stool for the other states to start opening their arms to others, despite their differences, and to become what America has been proclaiming to be all these years- a country of freedom.
It probably won't sway Schwarzenegger's prejudiced, right wing brain, but you have so say SOMETHING
