his dark materials
As promised, here are some pictures of recent awesomeness; as usual, I'm uploading pictures because I'm avoiding grading!
First, here are some shots from the 3rd of July celebration at Travis and Jess's; we played some lawn games, we ate lots of food, we waved sparklers about - it was a fantastic time!

Next, here is an awesome craft project that I just finished; it's both useful and very nerdy. In one of my fits of reorganization, I decided to move the craft items I use the most out of the recesses of this little dresser in my office and into boxes that I've stacked on top of the dresser. Because this area is already a bit of a Milton shrine, I decided to theme the boxes in a Miltonic direction; the tops are decoupaged with pages from an old copy of Milton's poems I was going to give away anyway (I made sure to pick pages with my highlighting and/or notes on them, for a bit of color) and stamped with the name of some Miltonic item ("talents" for "When I consider how my light is spent"; "rousing motions" for Samson Agonistes; and "dark materials" for Paradise Lost). I also got an awesome Martha Stewart craft storage box from Michael's for the bottom of the stack. Behold the nerdiness!
I also recently "acquired" an awesome new chair (it was in EPB with a "free" sign taped to it, so I snagged it!), which I've situated in my living room along with a lamp my friend Carolyn gave me. It will be an awesome reading nook for Steven! Right now, it's serving as a nice cuddle space for my Peep and my boyfriend pillow:
