No one would blame him, Frodo assured himself, as he began to unbutton his shirt. His weskit had been cast off since half a day ago and it did not seem to be enough. Nobody would blame him, not even Ma Gamgee that could appear anytime at the door.
Frodo shed his shirt with a sigh and draped the piece of clothes that had become soggy and heavy with sweat over the high back of his chair. The day had been so hot and even staying inside did not really help. Frodo knew Sam was out there in the garden but the idea of staying out in the sun was not too appealing right now. He knew Sam could do without him for some time. Sorry, Sam, Frodo apologized inwardly, but the heat could almost knock him out this time.
Even without his shirt and weskit was not enough to cool him down; Frodo began to tug at his undershirt. Soon he peeled it off of him, leaving him bare-chested, sheen of sweat coating his front and back. Should things be all right, then? No, not by a long stretch. Frodo slouched on the chair and reached down for the buttons of his breeches. It would, yes, it would be much breezier once these were off, too, he thought. Frodo did not know if he had lost his mind because of the heat but truly he did not think of anything else but all the attempts to ward it off.
It was true; it was much cooler now without his trousers although - Frodo giggled to himself as he looked down to his hanging…
“Mr. Frodo? You said you wanted those crocuses to be… Oh, me dear!”
Frodo could not decide who should blush more - him or Sam.
