Title: Squid

Summary: In Tol Eresséa, Frodo learned something about himself.
Frodo took a glance at his plate and decided he could not eat anymore. He threw his gaze at anything and anyone but his food while giving his best effort not to show his nausea as he turned his food around. Frodo should have known better, though. Nothing escaped Sam’s hawk-sharp eyes.
“Master Frodo, you’re not eating?”
Frodo swallowed and turned guiltily at him.
“I’m not hungry, Sam.”
Sam fell quiet for a second and snagged the fork from Frodo’s hand. “That was a lie,” he said.
“What are you doing?” Frodo protested when Sam poked into his meal and with a satisfied cry picked something from it.
“This one.”
“What?” Frodo asked weakly since he knew exactly what it was. A squid head with all those tentacles going to different directions. “It’s all right, Sam, come on.” Frodo pulled at Sam’s arm when he leapt on his feet to summon someone over to their table.
Sam complied and sat down, and took Frodo’s hand gently off his arm.
“No, that’s not all right, Master Frodo. They should know not to serve squid to you. Someone should’ve told them about-” But Sam did not finish his sentence and Frodo ducked his head, shuddering a little.
The Watcher, one of the things never to mention again.
