Today I tried a plumbing repair. Yesterday right before I was going to leave for work, water came pouring out from under my bathroom sink. I looked in and saw that the water was coming from the glued seal of the p trap. Went to the hardware store and got a guy to show me what to do. Got the parts, the glue and everything. Fit it up and glued the parts like instructed, then let them sit to make sure the glue set. Went back and ran the water and it still was leaking. Thought maybe the fitting needed tightening. Then, while feeling around trying to figure out where the water was coming from, I find a big hole in the the pipe above the p trap. Duh! The pop up drain fitting had sheared off the pipe. No way to fix it that I can see except to replace the drain. Then I set out to try to replace the drain. (Youtube can be helpful and harmful) I started on that and then discovered, my arms aren't long enough. Now it is just a mess and I guess I have to surrender and call a plumber. But, hey, I think my new p- trap isn't leaking.
