the time for talk is over...

So, tonight was a total blast. The show went off without a single hitch. Count tha Cost was much better than the first time i saw them, though the fact that they still have 'tha' in their name is just silly and dumb- whatever.

Everyone else impressed the hell out of me. I found out that it's Far From Breaking's last tour and then theyre splitting up. That sucks so bad. I really like them and I at least got to see them a second time before they disappear into the Texas desert for good.

Desperate Measures was good, musically i like them, but theyre the kind of band i just stand and watch. The same with Blue Monday. I just enjoyed watching two bands play some good hardcore.

Then, one of the bands I'd been waiting to see showed up, Mental. They were late cos they were stuck in traffic, but it was worth the wait. I swear they're all kids still....like 17-19. Their singer bounced all over the stage laughing and just having fun. It was great! Really good hardcore, fast, but it kind of has some bouncy-ness to it with the pace and the bass playing. And i must say, it was quite neat to see a skinhead with X's on his hands (mental is straight edge band and their bassist is a traditional skin). Very cool. There were even a couple trad. skins in the crowd. I love going to shows and seeing a mixed crowd.

Then the band I'd been waiting for, Over My Dead Body. After seeing them 6-7 times in two years, I hadnt seen them in close to a year. It was nice to have gone so long because it made me really enjoy them that much more. For the first time I can remember they didn't open with the Intro & Neanderthal Convention. Instead they just ripped right into Be There which was nice. There's nothing like being stage side with some of your best friends arm in arm falling all over the place and singing when im down and out and left without the strength and the courage to struggle on you're always there to show me you care. ...when i saw you and you told me, i knew you'd always be there

It just got better from there. They played some of the stuff from the new album, "Sink or Swim" including two of my faves- 'Always & Forever' which is a damn good love for the music song and 'Anchors Aweigh' which has one of my fave lines - 'well, i still believe in the power of just saying no.'

And of course they got around to 'Neanderthal Convention' and it looked like the whole club was up front singing along and with a band like that, how could you not? Hardcore, Punk, sXe, skin, whatever, everyone is made to feel welcome and with the chorus being 'Punk Kids, Edge kids, it doesnt matter' how could you expect anything else. And i swear the whole place shook and every hand was a middle finger for 'follow your leader, commit suicide- fuck white power and fuck your pride'

yeah, yeah...i should not be lazy and put this behind a cut id, but i think i need more sleep right now...so sorry to all three people who might see this....

good night, good bands, good music, good covers, good friends... ran into Walter from in Your Face among many others and he told me theyre playing tonight with most of the touring bands. Me and Bryan might drive the 2 hours to the show... i'd love to just to see Far From Breaking again and to see Walter and the IYF boys... ok, i actually have errands to run...sorta....
