First off, thank you
anjak_j for the glass heart. I've been meaning to say that for ages now *hugs*
So, apart from the odd political thing, fic recs or flurry of trailers (OMG The Avengers in out next month and The Amazing Spiderman in four months) I've not really been around on LJ much this year.
I've been mostly working (boring), reading fanfic (damn
thisissirius for getting me more heavily into TSN fandom, I keep reading fic for it), watching TV shows (I finally watched Homicide: Life on the Street season 2 and loved it) and writing my girl!Stiles fic, which, at the moment stands at about 50k with no end in sight. I'm still debating if this is a good thing or not. Then, also there's been Tumblr and Twitter, which are both very distracting.
I've also been organising my trip to New Zealand, which is in a weeks time. I go for three weeks and my oldest friend is getting married and, apparently, I'm the maid of honour.
Other than that, so far this year I have:-
Books read
01) Game of Cages - Harry Connolly
02) The Better Part of Darkness - Kelly Gay
03) The Cimera's Curse - Julia Golding
04) The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
05) Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins
06) Eona: Return of the Dragoneye - Alison Goodman
07) A Perfect Blood - Kim Harrison
08) Young Samuari: Ring of Water - Chris Bradford
Films watched
01) Chronicle
02) The Muppet Movie
03) This Means War
Before the New Year I also saw Sherlock Holmes 2 and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
TV shows
Spartacus -
I'm so happy this show is back. And while it's horrible and sad that Andy Whitfield died, Liam McIntyre is doing a fabulous job as Spartacus.
The brothel scene in the first episode was hilarious and awesome and violent and amazing at the same time. I just. WOW.
I love and adore Mira and my heart hurts of her so much that Spartacus will likely never love her like she loves him. But watching her come into her own and kickass is total awesomeness.
Crixus is totally my favourite. LOVE HIM SO MUCH.
thisissirus can tell you all about my feelings for Crixus.
Lucretia keeps making me feel sorry for her (and however awful she may have been in the past or future she doesn't deserve what Asher is doing to her) but I'm also nearly convinced that she has some master plan up her sleeve.
Glaber was kind of making me feel sorry for him until he killed his father-in-law and kind of went power hungry. I can only think that it's going to end badly for him. But I still love Craig Parker and think he's awesome.
The destruction of the colosseum was all kinds of amazing. It's kind of hilarious that Spartacus managed to bring down the entire thing.
It makes me sad that there are only three episodes left. It's awesome storytelling and I just want it to keep going forever - which I suppose is why I have the DVDs until season three comes out next year.
Justified -
One of the things that brings me the most joy is Tim giving Raylan shit. It's hilarious. I want more Tim and more Rachel. They are badass but aren't given a chance to show it. Why can't they be given time like Art to become even more awesome.
The Feds thinking Rylan is a dirty cop is one of the most hilarious things ever. Most. Hilarious.
Boyd continues to be awesome. And him and Rylan giving each other shit is one of the best things on my TV right now.
I still love Ava but god, I really wish Winona would just go away. She's so very annoying.
Person of Interest - It amuses me how much I'm enjoying this show.
The Good Wife -
Seriously. My favourite network show.
I have no idea what's going to happen during the rest of the season, but so far it's been amazing.
I'm so very happy that Alicia and Kalinda's friendship is getting slowly back on track. I keep cheering them on.
I sat on the edge of my seat during the Grand Jury episode. And totally cheered every time Will, Alicia and Elsbeth Tascioni got one up on Wendy Carr-Scott.
I want more of Elsbeth. She's amazing. And yeah, so too much of her might be a bad thing, but surely they could do what they managed to do with Eli. Because the more of her, the better, if you ask me.
I want more Cary and more Owen. More of them both.
Grimm - so, this isn't as bad as when it started. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that it's nearly good. NOT actually good. But nearly.
Once Upon a Time - And as Grimm has got better, this has got so much worse. Is there some rule somewhere that two shows that have a similar premise can't be good at the same time? And does everyone else find the real world stuff so much harder to watch than the fairytale stuff? Because I certainly do.
has everyone else noticed that in the magical world everyone has a sad ending, but in the real world good things happen to them, EXCEPT for Mary-Margaret/Snow and David/James? This is possibly the only thing I'm finding interesting about OuAT.
White Collar -
So, me and
thisissirius watched this together and we were both a wreck by the end.
When Neal was on the plane with Mozzie and he looked so close to tears - MY HEART. Because he had found a home, a place he felt be belonged and then Crammer has to go and fuck it all up for him.
I liked that they had a different range of opinions about whether or not Neal should be released.
But, god what are they going to do next season?
In all honesty, I'll be happy as long as Peter understands why Neal ran and doesn't decide to go on about how he can't trust Neal and give Neal shit about it. Because, really, how was Neal supposed to understand exactly what Peter's shake of the head meant?
I'm so scared about season four, it's not even funny.
Plus, I think my favourite episode this season was the one before the finale where they worked Yankee Stadium. That one was all kinds of awesome.
Supernatural -
OMG Bobby. OMG Bobby. Sam. Dean. Their face's. OMG. Crying. I was crying. And Jim Beaver was just amazing. Never has calling someone a idjit been so adorable. And how proud he is of Sam and Dean and how he considers them his kids - and let's be honest, he was a far better father than John ever was.
I'm not entirely sure what I think of this season so far (it doesn't help that it's so far between my Supernatural marathon's) but this episode was amazing.
Revenge -
Okay, so I was half expecting it not to be Daniel who got shot, but I never thought it'd be Tyler. And damn Emily's Sensei for trying to make her chose between Daniel and Jack. I can only hope she'll find a way to keep them both out of trouble.
The moment with Charlotte and Emily on the swing their dad made was really sweet and I hope there is more of them together in the rest of the season.
Declan continues to be a right pain in the ass and the only character I really want to go away. Although the bit where he says he's going to protect Jack is kind of sweet.
Nolan continues to be my favourite.
I'm really glad that Conrad has stopped being a douche to Charlotte just because she's not his biologically. And I hope he keeps being a good dad to her (because she's about the only person who doesn't think he's an ass). And what a love grandfather who would rather have a pill-popping granddaughter than one who goes to a therapist and talks her shit out.
And Ashley being all Miss Opportunity. Wow. Bet that's going to go somewhere.
I really can't wait to see where they go now.
A Gifted Man -
But god, if they go down the route of Kate and Michael getting together I'm going to be SO bored. Also, infidelity, not cool, show.
Awake - So, the first episode was pretty awesome and the second was awesome until the last three minutes
do they have to go with the whole big conspiracy and mythology thing? Really? Why can't it just be a show about which reality is real? That's interesting. A conspiracy? Not so much.
Touch - Uh, really not all that taken with the pilot. I just. I'm getting bored of mythologies, you know?
And now I'm going to go and write some more of girl!Stiles.
