So, there's the Guardian live webpage that's being kept up to date
here I'm gutted that this is happening to my capital city. It's horrible. Clean-up is going to be a bitch. It's going to be heartbreaking and cost bloody millions. Millions that the country doesn't have.
And there is no way that those participating in the rioting and looting and destruction of buildings and property, are doing so because they believe in something or because they care about an issue or anything like that. They are doing so because they enjoy the destruction and the mayhem and they want to loot and get free stuff.
They obviously don't care that they are destroying local businesses and jobs. That people are having their stock destroyed/looted.
Add on top of that that they are attacking reporters. Reporters can go to all war-torn countries and there is an understanding that they are out of bounds, but apparently that isn't the case in London, of all places.
I suspect that the police are going to be in for a kicking tomorrow because it sounds like they were stretched way too thin. Is Cameron really going to be cut 30,000 police jobs over the next couple of years if this is what happens?
And considering all the arson, are we even going to get through the night without anyone being killed?
EDIT: And I totally forgot the point of this post: if anyone on my flist wants to escape London, you are more than welcome at mine. It's an hour from Waterloo, so easy to get to, and to commute to.
