Most awesome weekend was had by all

Mar 01, 2010 19:09

Both thisissirius and tahariel came over to mine for the weekend and we had a Star Trek induced weekend...although we never watched the actual film.

This means we didn't get to squee over lines such as 'Get out of the chair' and 'Not only farm animals - although, actually, now I think about it, me and thisissirius did a lot of that in the Supermarket while buying food for the weekend.

[We also boggled at Kirk/McCoy because neither of us can see even a hint of it in the film and then we boggled at non-con and dub-con fic, neither of us understanding the appeal of it.]

Although what we did do was watch and squee over a number of other films and TV shows that included Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban - who I ended up calling Kurl Arban for most of the weekend - don't ask me why and thisissirius had something of an obsession with the length of his cock. It's not entirely her fault. I think Pathfinder had a lot to do with it *G*

So, our Friday night choices were:-

Princess Diaries 2

So, I've seen this film before, but it was something Siri just had to see because me and tahariel kept telling her how cute Chris was in it - and how bad his hair was...although, honestly, not as bad as in Bottle Shock.

The plot is so obvious a dead person could guess what's about to happen and their representation of a European country was truly cringe-worthy. I briefly wondered if perhaps they were being satirical, but then decided I was giving them way too much credit.

But I love Joe and Lily and some of the random moments with the servants are very funny. Anne Hathaway is always charming. Callum Blue was awesome and I'm always happily surprised that the writers made the guy she was going to be forced to marry a lovely person.

My favourite Chris scene is one of the deleted scenes. It makes little sense in regard to the film - we have no idea where in the film it would go, but it's definitely Chris's best scene.

We were then going to watch Doom but thisissirius and tahariel decided it would be too gruesome to watch late at night so we watched Pathfinder instead

I honestly don't remember much of this film because both tahariel and thisissirius spent most of the time making me laugh. Well, we were all laughing but I can't remember much of the film.

It involved Karl Urban being abandoned by his bastard Viking father after refusing to kill a 'savage' girl and being raised by the Native Americans of some kind.

There is supposedly some love triangle between Karl Urban, some chief's daughter and some guy, but since most of this is played out in frowns, longing looks and glares, it's kind of hard to say.

Karl Urban's family and village get destroyed and murdered as Karl Urban watches from a hill top across the river where, I pressume he buggered off to in some attempt to prove himself...or something. Again with the vagueness. I swear this film would have benefited from just a line or two of dialogue in the first hour or so to tell the audience something about any of the characters.

So KU follows the murderous Vikings who have kidnapped someone who I presume was something of a father figure to him. They then kill said father figure because he doesn't know how to defend himself with a sword and KU stumbles into the camp and the Vikings show a stunning ability to state the obvious when they note that KU is different from the other Native Americans. It seems to take them some time to realise he looks suspiciously like them.

They then give him the sword and, with little to no training over the last 15 years, KU kicks ass with the sword and while they all stand there in shock that he could dare to know how to play their own game, he legs it into the forest. KU then, considering he was abandoned when he was about six or something, shows a tremendous amount of knowledge of Viking tactics. Almost as if the knowledge was suppressed in his mind until the very moment he needed it.

After that, I think we all got a bit bored so we devolved into being impressed with KU's abs (well, okay, we'd been impressed with them the second he'd appeared on the screen) and watching his loin cloth very closely and then wondering about the length of his cock to the point that thisissirius decided that it was what was used to tie all the Vikings together as they crossed a dangerous, snow covered ledge.

We also spent a good deal of time marvelling how similar to LOTR it was - more in it's scenery shots than anything. I swear they used the same mountains in Pathfinders as they did LOTR. It was all sweeping shots of untouched snowy mountains and what have you. Although we did identify the Aragorn moments, the Frodo moments and a Boromir moment or two.

Oh, and when it was snowing, it was because Zach, as God, naturally, was cracking one off. I don't even know anymore *g*

And our final choice for the evening was 207 of Joan of Arcadia

The best bit by far was ZQ leaning against some pillar or another. He's very good at leaning.

And then both me and thisissirius were distracted by the fact that the dad is Rossi and neither of us would work out where we'd seen the younger brother until thisissirius imdb'ed him and we discovered he was the young O'Neill from SG-1.

This is a show that tahariel has been bugging me to get around to watch for ages, and I now feel that I will.

Then, instead of going to bed, we bemoaned the fact that the seventh Harry Potter book was such a disappointment considering the build up of the previous six books. We are also all of the opinion that the seventh book doesn't need to be split in two because all that needs to be done is for them to cut out all the crap that wasn't needed - like the 400 page camping trip and that fucking epilogue.

On Saturday I got scared out of bed by tahariel jumping on me, making me scream and thisissirius laughing. After a while of us lying there, talking about...I have no idea what. I was far too foggy with sleep...although I do remember thisissirius fondling my knee. My knee was traumatised *g*

By about 9.30am we were sitting firmly in front of the TV, debating what to watch first. It was decided that so early in the morning was the perfect time to watch Doom, so we did.

So, at the beginning of the film The Rock and Karl Urban are obviously boyfriends, due to all the lingering glances and the fact that Sarge tries to stop Reaper to go on an op to a place that gave him his childhood trauma, and then lets him have a moment about half way through the film when they really should be hunting down monsters. Then, of course, The Rock goes crazy, Reaper protects his sister and then has some incestuous vibes with said sister.

Siri, did you still want me to kind you some of the fic?

Then we had Bottle Shock

Seriously, if I ever meet Chris Pine (and, really, that is never going to happen in any universe) my one question I will definitely make myself ask him before I go ded from the HOT will be whether or not that was his real hair or not.

This film kind of rocked and we all enjoyed it. Chris Pine was all kinds of awesome (not surprising, he is CP after all) but I also loved Alan Rickman in it and Bill Pullman, both actors I go and see movies for. Freddie Rodriguez was cute and lovely and I've loved him since Six Feet Under. Eliza Dushku was the sassy bar owner who saves the day (and really should have ended up with Bo (Chris Pine)).

My only real problem with the film was that the male and female leads had to end up together. Bo and Sam worked much better as friends while Sam and Gustavo had an obvious spark and were adorable together.

Then we did did out final ZQ viewing. We do intend to watch more Zach next time. Probably decide upon the most Syler heavy episodes of Heroes, and in the same vain, I will finish watching series 3 of 24 and find out the Adam heavy episodes in that. A real chore, you understand, but I'm willing to endure.

Which is more of a 'hit and take with you', to be honest.

While watching we all agreed we'd find of got bored with CSI. It's a shame, though, because it really was kind of awesome to begin with.

Zach was all cute, greasy, with wonderful hair and, well, yeah. Is definitely a possibility for a crossover with any of Chris's other roles.

We then watched The Trouble with Tribbles, followed immediately by Trials and Tibble-ations. I mean, you have to, right?

There is SO much comedy gold in Trouble with Tribbles. All the glances between Spock and Kirk. Kirk's growing resignation with the Tribble infestation.

Possibly my favourite bit is Scotty explaining the fight with the Klingons to Kirk. Kirk's hilarious as he realises that Scotty defended the honour of The Enterprise, but not that of Kirk.

Go to minute seven. (And Shatner is a much better actor than people give him credit for - just watch the subtlety of his reaction)

I wish, WISH the reboot lot would just to this episode. I would kill to see Chris Pine's Kirk's reaction to Scotty starting a fight over The Enterprise but not him. I just. I think it would be hilarious.

My second favourite bit it Kirk having all the Tribbles fall on him. And I love how in the DS9 episode, all the Tribbles that fall out every now and again are the ones that Sisko and Dax are scanning for the bomb.

Go to minute 8 and see the look on Kirk's face when all the tribbles fall on him *g*

And then in Trials and Tribble-ations you get lines like:-

O'Brien: Don't you know anything about this period in time?
Doctor Bashir: I'm a doctor, not an historian.
Sisko: In the old days, operations officers wore red, command officers wore gold...

Captain Sisko: This was the first Enterprise - Constitution-class.
Dulmur: His ship!
Lucsly: James T. Kirk.
Captain Sisko: The one and only!
Lucsly: Seventeen separate temporal violations; the biggest file on record.
Dulmur: The man was a menace.

I totally love the fact that there's a Temporal Investigations. So this happens a lot, right?

Then we watched Just My Luck

It's the fact that her character is so horrible.

She feels entitled to her luck. He gets pissy when she loses her luck and thinks nothing about anyone else. She doesn't even become a better person when she loses her luck. Just moans all the time.

I don't get how she has friends. I don't get why Jake (Chris Pine) is interested in her. It boggles my mind.

I will say, though, that Chris Pine with kids is a dangerous combination. SO DAMN CUTE!!!

Also, Chris with glasses is also a dangerous combination, now I come to think about it *nods*

Then thisissirius had to leave *cries*

Me and tahariel, feeling a bit movied out messed about on laptops for a while and then watched the first episode of NCSI:LA because I wanted to show her how bad the show is and also how gay it is.

Then on Sunday we started with some Original Star Trek. Season 3. And it was hilarious. Unintentionally hilarious, but hilarious.

And then we turned to the serious business of watching our last Chris Pine movie of the weekend, Blind Dating.

I loved this film and Chris was really only part of the reason.

Well, for starters he played blind really well. He got the looking at something in that out of focus way down. And then when he could kind of see again (watch the film to find out what I'm talking about) he got that there would be no depth perception there. It was kind of cool.

But what I loved the most was the relationships he had with his brother, Larry (Shitbreak from American Pie) and his sister, Marie and his best friend, Jay. And Leeza and Danny were adorable.

Jane Seymour was very funny and I still can't quite believe that the guy Leeza was marrying was Sendhil Ramamurthy (in other words, Mohinder)

So, you know, all in all a bloody brillaint weekend and something I'm going to have to do again, because, really, is there anything better than fangirling with friends? *g*
