Well that’s certainly a good thing. When I start talking books I turn into a starry-eyed idiot *g*
I think the supernatural book I enjoyed most this year was actually the new Rachel Morgan series one. Have you read any of those? They just seemed to me to have more going on than the usual girl meets really hot guy and then has to combat serious problem (with help of hot guy who is of course awesome). That and one of them basically had a lesbian makeout scene between the two female leads. I am shallow and easily amused when things like that become a natural progression for the characters. Because…it’s gay and awesome (even if only for about a page) XD
I found I read a couple and liked them well enough, but loved reading them after seeing the film. Loved that film, all silliness with more woeful coincedences than could ever happen in the entire world, and it all looked so oddly gothic as well. After that I zipped through the series. And felt a little put out there wasn’t entire books dedicated to biting the heads off of annoying happy elves. Because that ruled.
I’m not sure which episode I was watching. Peter was a paramedic, Mohinder was back driving his taxi, and Nathan was being an evil politician and taking over the world. But that’s about as far as I got. It looked like S1 Heroes though and it made me happy :)
I am going to the meet! Bright and probably far too early so I can go get breakfast somewhere cool. Or possibly just wander round bookshops NOT SPENDING ALL MY MONEY, OKAY, HONEST. But, yeah. I’ll be there!
I could have told you this on Saturday, but I never seemed to quite get round to it, but I LOVE the Rachel Morgan books. In fact, I've just pre-ordered the 8th one from the US (mostly because they have much better covers than the UK).
Ivy is utterly awesome and I love her.
And yeah, I love the books because they are about Rachel's life, not about the next guy or whatever. Much more interesting and fun.
It's so nice to actually KNOW other people read the same things as you. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only person in the world reading paranormal novels. Which is ridiculous obviously ;) I haven't seen any of the covers for the Us versions. Are they really that much better? I have seen the newest Dresden File sitting there on amazon though, looking at me being all 'You can order me and read me months before everyone else!' at me. I'm trying to hold out to half term *g*
Yes, just because I like my plot with vampires (Ivy rules!) doesn't mean I want to read naff romance. If I want romance I watch my pretty gay anime. They do it better.
