Bite size pieces

1) My sgabigbang is beginning to scare me. 61k and still no end in sight and I only have 14 days left in which to do it. I'm really not all that confident. And I'm getting to that stage where I think it' crap (although I nearly wrote that I think it's carp).

Although I am using a day of holiday tomorrow so I can spend lots of time just writing.

2) Burn Notice is without a doubt a marvelous and wonderful show. I thank tahariel for introducing me to it.

3) I'm somewhat shocked that Murray beat Gasquet. I didn't think he'd have it in him. Having said that, I felt sorry for Gasquet, the crowd obviously got to him. There was a moment in the third set were a look passed over his face and after that he kind of lost it. I think Murray played well, but not brilliantly. I think if Gasquet hadn't listened to the crowd he would have pulled through (although probably not without losing one set).

I do wonder how he's going to do against Nadal though. I just, I don't think he has the power necessary to beat Nadal ::touch wood:: And his fitness is better than it was, but could he win 2 matches that stretch to five sets? I don't know. Nadal can, and has.

I'm going to be so sad if Nadal gets knocked out.

Plus Murray is annoying me. He celebrated half his points as if he'd won the match. I much prefer muted celebrations and only when a point is either important or hard won. The way be kept pumping up the crowd also turned my stomach a little. You don't see any of the other players do that. And oh, the arrogance of 'I'm going to win it' really unimpressed me. Other tennis players don't do that ' they go on about taking it one match at a time and respecting their opponent. Murray doesn't do any of that. And the bit where he felt it necessary to show off his bicep? So tacky.

If (and, god, is that a big IF) Murray wins I'm going to find myself in the strange position of supporting Federer against a Scot. Huh.

4) For anyone who hasn't heard the sad news, Don S Davis, he of Scully's dad and General Hammond fame (to name by a few), has died. The article on Gateworld is here

5) Did anyone else see Any Winehouse at Glastonbury (on the TV, obviously, cause I was meeting Hewlwtts over the weekend *g*)?

The BBC say she performed brilliantly and it was a brilliant show.

What I want to know is, were they watching the same performace as I was?

I couldn't understand half of what she was saying to the crowd (apart from her shouting for Blake). To my ears an awful lot of the songs didn't seem to have all their words, and I am talking about the ones I hear on the radio all the time. She couldn't stop touching her hair, pulling down her dress (which really didn't flatter her) or suffling around - all of them classic actions of a druggie. There is no way she should have been on that stage. It was an embarrassment to watch. To me that wasn't the Amy Winehouse I remember from when she first became famous and it was a real shame.

6) Is it me, or does it sound like there could be the possibility of an Actor's strike soon? The BBC reporting doesn't sound promising... See?

7) According to this Venezuelan TV considers Baywatch Hawaii to be more appropriate viewing for children than The Simpsons.
