White House did know about torture - before the new laws came in

Apr 12, 2008 13:36

To me this goes in the same catagory of news as 'Pope is Cathotic' and 'water is we'

Here is the link to the story.

Apparently Bush administration officials from Vice President Dick Cheney on down signed off on using harsh interrogation techniques against suspected terrorists after asking the Justice Department to endorse their legality

And, later on in the article, The meetings were held in the White House Situation Room in the years immediately following the Sept. 11 attacks. Attending the sessions were Cheney, then-Bush aides Attorney General John Ashcroft, Secretary of State Colin Powell, CIA Director George Tenet and national security adviser Condoleezza Rice.

So, that would be everyone except Bush, right?

As Andrew Sullivan says:-

They knew what they were doing. The law was "fixed" to back up what was already decided. The parallel to WMD intelligence - the Downing Street memo - springs to mind.

It seems as though the GOP in NC has already decided who they think is going to win the Democratic race...and who they would preper to win...

RNC targets Obama in NC

Apparently the Far Right are using Obama's autobiography against him. Totally out of context, like that's a surprise. By the way, I totally recommend reading his autobiography. It's stunning. Really readable and interesting and makes me like the guy even more *g*

Bill is still trying to defend Hillary fucking up the Bosnia thing. I love this piece which just points out all the way he's messing up the truth too *eyeroll*
