IT Question...

What is it in a PC that would cause NONE of the Video players to work?  I get sound but no video.  It did work a second ago but it was all jittery, but it was a dream sequence in one of my shows so I thought at first that it was the show, then I closed it, and now Nero, Windows Media Player, and a all the other will only play sound.  What is it?

all I wanted to do today was curl up on the sofa and watch the programmes I missed while I was away.  :(
