The Military's Lap Dog (working title, apparently)
by
xRyux (the "x" is for X-TREME YAOI ACTION)
YAOI:ROYxEDWARD. Edward is pretty pissed at his military life. Everyone seems to treat him like dirt. Alphonse's clumsiness and Colonel Mustangs constant teasing is driving him up the wall. But after Ed's tantrum, Roy has been requesting Ed's appearence..
It may be a working title, but she (pretty sure yaoi princess is a girl) could at least spell "lapdog" correctly -- it's one word. Also, why give Alphonse possession of his clumsiness, but Colonel Mustang doesn't get to claim ownership of his constant teasing? Poor, poor neglected apostrophe.
Category:
RoyXEd yaoi action... eventually?
Status: Work in Progress -- one chapter so far
First Complaint: I'm sorry. Yugioh and Beyblade have both stopped playing on TV, and I'm currently into Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, and Fullmetal Alchemist. :(
Maybe, SOMEDAY, i'll get ideas for those to write stories...I dunno whats wrong with me!!! I can still write and all, but I have no motivation...I'm sorry. All my fics have been sitting and CRUSTING AWAY! Blahh. Please, if you feel SAD cos I suck so much, go add me on myspace: www.myspace.com/livinthebubble
I know how it feels to feel unmotivated, so I'm sympathetic to her plight, but honestly, how would her sucking be fixed by me adding her to my Myspace? I don't see how that solves anything.
Also, I'm saddened that she watches something as awesome as FMA, then juxtaposes it with Yu-Gi-Ohmygodsomeonekillme and Beybladetomyeyes! It's really, really good that those aren't on the Tee-Vee anymore. Seriously. That just stopped like, eight nuclear holocausts somewhere.
Rating:
"YOU WILL BURN FOR THIS."
I'd give it four "FUN WITH FIRE" Rating Cards, but it's short, which is slightly merciful.
The Good:
There's no Roy on under-aged, emotionally-traumatized boy action yet.
The Bad:
15 year old Edward Elric brushed a strand of blonde hair out of his eyes and sighed. He really needed a vacation. A 2 months strait he'd been running military errands, petty military investigations and had hardly any time to squeeze in some reading at night.
What does it all mean? Is it some sort of code? "A 2 months strait"... is the author saying that Edward has become "a comparatively narrow passageway connecting two large bodies of water" (
Merriam-Webster)? Honestly, I'm confused.
*sigh* I'm just being petty now.
Al wasnt making things any better. He had been repedeatly running into thing for the last 2 weeks [...] everytime Ed came back to his current living facilities, made himself a soothing, hot cup of green tea and lay down to read his favorite book on Alchemy, a loud clang sounded from the next room followed by Al's cry of frustration. Ed had no other choice but to get out of bed and put Alphonse's head back on. Then the second he sat back down...CLANG. There it went again. [...] Ed sort of felt sorry for Al but [...] little things like that were really beginning to tick him off [...]
There is no one in the world that Ed is more sympathetic to, more caring towards, or more considerate of than his brother, Al. The idea that Al losing his head continually would make Ed this angry is mind-boggling:
Ed was going balistic.
"Yes! I will lose my head again if you keep going on like this!"
"WELL YOU KNOW WHAT?" Ed said shoving Al against the wall. "IF ANYONES GONNA LOSE THEIR HEAD TONIGHT, IT'S GONNA BE ME!"
*sniiiiiiiff* Smells like OOC!
Honestly, the thing that makes me really go "huh?" is Ed drinking green tea whilst reading a book on how to transmute vehicles (what is that, like, a "Mechanic's Guide to Alchemy" or something?). They're in AU Germany... green tea? I don't know, it seems... odd.
So far, this just seems like the author was struggling for excuses to make Ed angry enough to storm out, and shove Al against a wall, apparently (yeah, okay... twangst). Really, all she had to do was have someone walk by and call him "bean" or "shrimp" or something. It just doesn't feel like she knows the characters.
I can't wait for the yaoi *eyeroll* RoyXEd shippers, for some reason, are even more annoying than EdXAl shippers.
Final Complaints:
1) Roy and Ed? Seriously? Can you actually imagine that? The height difference alone would complicate things.
2) Anyone else think Ed might be a little asexual, or possibly have some sort of subtle Oedipal complex?
3) Al doesn't really lose his head that often. I'm pretty sure that's super-dangerous, because then the blood seal is exposed. He lost it a few times in the anime, but most of the time it was because something jarred him, or it was taken off manually.
Also, I'm not sure that Al can't see without his head. My roommate and I have been discussing it, and we agree that just because the head of the armor is off, doesn't mean he can't see. His soul is still in there, and there's nothing stopping him from seeing when he doesn't have his hand or his foot, right? To Al, technically, the helmet is just another piece of the armor; it doesn't really hold any other significance, except to represent his head. I really think he could retrieve his own head rather easily if it popped off. No need to call for help.
4) I love Roy! That's not really a complaint, I just really like his character.
