So, after having seen the episode...
Alas, there was less Jack the Ripper than expected (especially frustrating for some, I'd imagine, since that's what all the promos appear to have been hyping up), but it does firmly establish that Henry was in London at the time, which makes the history nerd in me happy*. It didn't play out the way I'd have liked (a cat and mouse game, especially if it was continued in the modern day), but I will take it, and happily. Whether or not I write my own version of events remains to be seen, especially depending on where they go with Adam. They gave him some nuance this episode, and they never really answered the question of what he was up to in 1888, now did they...?
Long story short, I enjoyed the episode. I really, really hope it can at least make it through an entire season, especially since the creator said in some interview I can't find right now that he doesn't think he can properly explain Henry's immortality in 13 episodes, and probably not even a season. Unfortunately,
this article doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. Still, keeping my fingers crossed. It's sort of nice getting to see Ioan every week.
*Making me slightly less happy is the fact that Henry keeps claiming the murder was identical to Jack's murder, when, in fact, neither one is historically accurate. Then again, if they did make it historically accurate, they wouldn't have been able to show it on TV. Pick your battles, Ioanite, pick your battles.
