What is a man's legacy? The things he leaves behind? The things that made him important to people who are left or the things that still make him important to them? More likely I think it was what he was willing to die for to protect. That's the true will of a man right there.

In my world there was a man who left behind a big treasure people search the world over for. Maybe that's supposed to be his legacy. Something that makes him famous more than the people aband-- he knew, or his reasons for living or how and why he died or any of that. Beats me.

But a year ago tomorrow, a really important guy died. His legacy was definitely the crew he strove to protect, and all the smiles on people's faces he put there. Back in my world, I've no doubt the guy with the treasure will be more famous, but I think it's more amazing to die in battle, fighting the worst scum out there to protect the people important to you.

Kanpai Thatch. [At this Ace gets teary and looks about to shut it off, but wipes the tears away and laughs softly.] Mah, someone tell me their favorite joke okay? He always preferred everyone laughing and happy.

[At that he does finish up his toast and drinks away, holding up the bottle to his friend.]

[[ooc: No clue when Thatch's actual death was supposed to be but it's roughly 6 months before Ace's execution in canon, and it's been 6 months that Ace has been here so... seemed appropriate. Annnd not posting on the 6th because busy-ish]
